Falafel
😋
Mediterranean is one of my favourite cuisine to eat as well as experiment with. A friend asked me to give her a falafel recipe that won't break. Took me too many trials to figure that one should not boil the chickpeas. But then I found @roubasfood journey 's recipe and adapted the same, mostly because I did not have mint and parsley and I do love sesame. While I mostly followed her, here is the adapted version in case you want to try.
Ingredients:
1 cup chickpeas soaked overnight
2-3 garlic pods
A few coriander leaves with stem
Mint (optional)
Sesame seeds
A small potato or 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
Salt, to taste
1tsp cumin powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp Kashmiri Mirch Powder
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 small onion, diced
Oil for frying
Method:
Pulse the chickpeas alongwith the other ingredients (except salt and baking powder) to a coarse and grainy mix. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Check taste for seasoning and salt Divide into small balls and flatten. Keep it in the fridge for atleast an hour.
I shallow fried it in a pan. If you prefer you can deep fry. But shallow fry is good and tasted perfect.
I served it with homemade pita bread, hummus and tzatziki dip.
