Fish in a Jiffy

Fish in a Jiffy
Well, to start with, I am  a self-confessed foodie & have been raised in a family of foodies who would walk, talk & sleep only food. Hence, it is quite evident for me to be inclined towards trying my hand at cooking. But with a 6 year old at home, bombarding a volley of questions every 10 minutes & wanting me to be a part of his activities, does not leave me with much time to indulge in this passion of mine. This fish recipe is to satiate the foodie in me by not having to spend much time in the kitchen. Not only does it taste good but saves time too. So what are we waiting for, let's get started & please don't forget to leave a comment if you like it! Also, please ignore the poor photography!!

Ingredients:

Catla Fish or South Asian Carp- 5 medium sliced pieces
Mustard oil- 1/2 teaspoon
Vinegar- 1/2 tablespoon
Soya Sauce-1/2 teaspoon
Hot & Sweet Sauce- 1/2 tablespoon
Honey- 1/2 teaspoon
Coriander powder- 1/4 teaspoon
Chilli powder- to taste
Cardamom powder- a pinch
Salt- to taste
Herb & Garlic butter- 1/2 tablespoon
Onion(medium-sized)- 1
Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing

Method:

In a mixing bowl, take all the ingredients, except the butter, onion & coriander, mix it, add the fish pieces to it & keep it aside for around 15 minutes. Sometimes, I keep this overnight as well & it tastes equally good.

Now, chop the onions finely. Heat a pan, melt the butter & add the onions into it & saute until the onions are translucent. Add the fish pieces to it, flip the pieces after about two minutes so that it is evenly cooked. Now add the leftover juices into it. Cover & cook till the sauce reaches your desired consistency. I like it sticky. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves & your fish is ready to devour!!

God bless the Amul people, it saved my time from doing the garlic as well!! On a lazy day, this is the perfect recipe. This goes well with a simple pulao or even a fried rice. Enjoy!
